In 2019, Salvatore Ferragamo presented the 42 Degrees capsule collection, a tribute to the rainbow as a natural phenomenon that occurs when the sun's rays hit the water drops with an inclination of 42 degrees, and to the Rainbow, the iconic sandal created in 1938. Designed by two young Ferragamo designers, it is the result of an inhouse competition linked to the Sustainable Thinking project, which saw the participation of the young designers from Salvatore Ferragamo. The capsule, consisting of two sneakers for men and women, a backpack and a shopping bag, is made with sustainable, Italian materials such as leather with with wet-white chrome and metal-free tanning, natural rubber, cork developed in Sardinia, footbed insole made of organic fibers, and recycled yarn. Moreover, the collection has been manufactured by companies operating in Italy and present on the market for years, combining tradition and innovation and ensuring a transparent and traceable supply chain.
